CFB Week 1 Update

From Arizona’s opening night upset loss at Hawaii (Gob) to Notre Dame’s non-cover win over Louisville (Walter), the 13 days of week 1 of the College Football Pool are over.

(Golf clap)

Overall we were 44-4 in week 1, and 19-16 against the spread. Inside the numbers, the keys to week 1 in 2019 was covering the double game. Our top 4 in the standings did, the bottom 4 didn’t. And, of course, avoid the upset loss.

Signs like this are popping up in Knoxville where Walter’s Tennessee Vols reside. A 25 point fave losing at home, I’m guess we won’t be seeing Rocky Top in his starting line-up much this season.  Starkey was the victim of the “feel-good” story of week 1. Good ol’ Cheater Mack coming to Tobacco Road and just winnin’ one for the gosh darn kids, upsetting his Gamecocks. And PJ rounds out the trio of upset losers – his Mizzou Tigers going to Laramie and losing to the Tri-Cap’s “close personal” Coach Bald.

The top point getter this week was John McKay’s Georgia Bulldogs, handling Vandy on the road, 30-6 – one of 3 teams picking up defensive points for his roster.

Skunk’s Aztecs picked up the rare shutout win, while scoring under 10 point, beating Weber State 6-0. Not a great sign for SDSU.

Gob was looking like the cellar-dweller for 55+ minutes of the Auburn game, but the PAC-12 did what it does, and found a way to lose. The result a nice Win, Ranked, Cover for War Eagle.

Take a look at the spreadsheet and double-check your totals. Off and running fellas, strap it on, let’s roll to week 2!Screen Shot 2019-09-03 at 8.56.50 AM.png
