Saturday in Austin, Texas, West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen made arguably the boldest call of any coach in the country this season. Despite facing the risk of possibly falling out of Big 12 title and College Football Playoff contention, Holgorsen, down 41-40 with 16 seconds remaining, elected to go for two rather than kick and go to overtime against No. 15 Texas.
Pretty Ballsy Decision there, Coach H. As your Mountaineers sat, safely tucked away on PJ’s bench in lieu of the pride of Minnesota, on display in Champaign, Illinois. As Will Grier was crossing the goal line keeping championship hopes alive for UWV, something called AJ Bush was scoring half a hundred on the Beloved. Ahh, the awesome cruelty of the college football pool, the greatest pool in the history of the world.
But all is not lost for ball-less PJ. 5 other wins this week, although Ohio State didn’t do much to prove Purdue was an aberration in his double game posting 8 points.
5 wins for Starkey – he wins the week with 47 points getting 18 from BC in his double game and defensive points from Miss St and Coach Bald. Florida State got hammered by NC State for his only loss.
Bama scored the most possible points in the pool – road, shutout, cover, ranked win at LSU. 28 points for the Tide. Houston and Virginia were losers for Mike Lynn who remains (barely) in the overall lead.
George fell to from 2nd to 4th place this week (Miami is his Florida State). Utah State continues to pile up big points, scoring 18 in his double win at Hawaii.
Walter sits in 5th (Okie State is his FSU/Miami losing to Baylor). Clemson is leaving no doubt in the embarrassingly weak ACC – aren’t we all excited for the ACC title tilt with Pitt?
The bottom feeders, Meathead – Skunk – Gob, continue to flounder, but Gob is the best flounderer of all. The Utes lose his double game along with L’s by Texas and Ole Miss. Skunk gets 22 out of the Dawgs win at Kentucky but gets losses by TXA&M, Iowa and Marshall. Meathead gets a 52-3 win posted by UAB vs UTSA.
